Checklist for a trip:
Absolutely essential
Money and id: driver's license (domestic or international), passport, credit card, and cash. Many rental companies will deny you their services if you don't have a credit card.
Plan your trip in advance: find interesting places, gas stations, cafes and camping points along the way.
Safety
It's impossible to know in advance what may happen on the road and how fast your jet lag will pass. Take a first aid kit with you, check the car for a spare wheel, fire extinguisher and a tow cable.
Boredom
The secret to a successful journey: great mood and good company. If you have to drive thousands of kilometres, you can get bored even with your best friends. Do not forget to make a playlist for the trip and make sure that the phone can be connected to the car stereo .
Come up with some road games that you can play with friends, and don’t forget to take the camera. The trip will be remembered for a long time, if you think through all the details.
Comfort
You will definitely need road maps. Remember an extra GPS system and don't forget to download the app with maps that don't require the constant internet connection.
Wear something comfortable during the ride: tracksuit or jeans with a t-shirt, sneakers. Put documents and money in your belt pack so you will not leave valuables when you go to the gas station or cafe.
If you are planning to make stops at night and sleep in the car bring blankets and pillows. If you do not have a large car, then pack a tent and sleeping bags for camping.
Saving money
Bring water and food from the your local supermarket. The stores along the highway tend to raise prices, meanwhile, the choice leaves much to be desired.
If you rent a car in hot countries, take a cooler bag with you. The food will be fresh, and you can also bring ice cream.
