TOUCH THE MAGICAL FISHES - MAKE YOUR LOVE STRONGER
On one of the walls of the Citadel in Budva there is a bas-relief with two intertwined fish - the symbol of Budva. The legend associated with this image says that in the old days, a mason named Marko Mitrov lived in the city. He could carve out of stone everything he saw, and his works looked alive. He met the beautiful Elena, and they fell in love.
However, Elena's family did not allow her to marry Marko, and then the lovers came to the city wall and threw themselves into the sea.
Touching the waves, they heard a voice: "Kojedno nek budu dva!" ("Let the two be as one!").
The lovers turned into fish and stayed together forever. Later, an image of two intertwined fish was found in Marko's house. This is how the name of the city (budu dva) and its symbol appeared.
It is believed that by touching the ancient bas-relief, you can make your love as strong and eternal as stone.
