Chan

Čanj (alternative name – Canj) is a picturesque resort village in Montenegro, famous for its beautiful pebble beaches, amazing landscape and mild Mediterranean climate with healing air.

Location

Čanj in Montenegro is located on the Adriatic coast, in the northern part of the Bar Riviera, on the border with the municipality of Budva and next to other resort villages – Petrovac and Sutomore. The distance to the city of Bar is about 15 km.

From the history of the resort

The main events in the life of the resort of Čanj date back to the 18th-19th centuries. In 1741, the authorities of Kotor limited the city's trade with surrounding areas. Access to the seaport of Kotor was closed. Due to the situation that arose, trade flows began to go around, through the port of Čanj. Transshipment points were built in the village and protection of the sea corridor was established, which was carried out for some time by the Russian fleet.

Peace and safety. Chanj is located away from the highway, between the hills of Ostrovica and Veligrad, and is a fenced-off section of the Adriatic coast. It is very quiet and cozy here. A great place for a family or romantic trip.

The local climate is very mild, and acclimatization is easy and quick, which is especially important for children.

Beaches.

One of the most beautiful beaches in the country is the Pearl Beach, located in the resort of Chan in Montenegro. Otherwise, this place is also called Biserna obala. 

It got its name for the amazingly regular round shape of the pebbles.

The Pearl Beach is well equipped and ideal for a holiday with children (there are specially fenced swimming areas for them). Its distinctive feature is also the microclimate and the cleanest air thanks to the cypresses and pine trees growing here. The second most popular in the village

Chan is considered to be the sandy Queen's Beach, which can only be reached by sea, since it is separated from Chan by rocks.

How to get there?

You can get to the resort of Čanj from the bus or train station of the village of Sutomore or from the airports of Tivat (the road by car takes about 1 hour) or Podgorica (40 minutes on the way).
