The Panoramic Road “Durmitor Ring” - Durmitorski prsten - is one of the most impressive routes in the region. Discover the unique, wild landscape and fascinating nature of the Durmitor National Park and the Piva Nature Park in northern Montenegro.
You can explore the route as a day trip from Žabljak, Šavnik or Plužine or as a starting point for numerous hikes.
Detailed information about the panoramic road can be found in the free map (available from local tourism organisation).

The Durmitor Ring is signposted in both directions. We recommend driving counterclockwise. Campers should drive clockwise.

With our audio guide you can discover the Panoramic Road “Durmitor-Ring” in a very intensive way. On your journey you will learn a lot about the region and get to know interesting people.

Žabljak

Žabljak is the perfect place to start your journey on the Durmitor Ring. The small town is the gateway to the Durmitor National Park and the tourist center of the region.

Tara Canyon

The Tara Canyon is one of the highlights of this panoramic road. It is the deepest gorge in Europe and the second deepest in the world after the Grand Canyon in USA. You have a particularly good view of the canyon from Ćurevac, which you can reach via a short detour.

Mala Crna Gora

Mala Crna Gora means "Little Montenegro". The village is known because there is no access during winter months and its inhabitants are cut off from the rest of the world for months.

Sušica Canyon

The panoramic road crosses the Sušica Canyon, which is 15 kilometers long and up to 700 meters deep. At the bottom of the valley you can make a detour to Lake Sušica, which, however, dries up completely during summer time.

Durmitor National Park and Nature Park Piva

The Durmitor National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the country's most important natural treasures. The Durmitor Ring also passes through the Piva Nature Park - the first nature park in Montenegro. Along the route you will see the highest and most impressive peaks of the Durmitor Mountains, such as Prutaš (2,393 m), Bobotov Kuk (2,523 m) and Sedlena Greda (2,227 m).

Note: The route is not suitable for large camper vans (7m or longer, 2.30m or wider, 2.90m or higher). Drivers of smaller camper vans should be experienced in driving on narrow mountain roads.
