*authentic fishing village of Virpazar - the first written mentions of the village of Vir date back to the 8th century.

The convenient location of this town at the intersection of important roads contributed to the development of trade.
In the 19th century, Vir became a lively trading center, where hundreds of people came to sell or exchange their goods.
Most likely, this is why the townspeople later began to call it Virpazar (*a picturesque mountain serpentine towards Rijeka Crnojevica with a fabulous view of Lake Skadar - the largest freshwater lake in the Balkan Peninsula. The lake is also one of the largest ornithological reserves in Europe. It is rightfully considered a "Bird Paradise".
More than 280 species of birds live here, which is 50% of the total number of bird species in Europe, including a rare species - the Dalmatian pelican.
