Damage assessment

According to the agreement, the Client renting a car (Lessee) is responsible for its safety during the entire rental period. It happens that the car, during the time it is in the Lessee's use, gets some new damage.

At the same time, the Lessee is not responsible for damage to the car, only in one case - when the Lessee has a signed European accident report by the culprit, or an accident report from the police with the identified culprit of the incident. In this case, even if the car is seriously damaged, the Lessee's deposit is returned in full.

In this article, we are interested in all other cases when the Lessee is responsible for damage to the car. Such cases include damage to the car caused by the fault of the Lessee himself and damage to the car by third parties without the knowledge of the Lessee, when the culprits of the incident are hiding (for example, at night in the parking lot).

Unfortunately, in such cases, the culprit cannot be identified, which means that all responsibility for damage to the car falls on the Lessee. Fortunately, all our cars are insured with a very low deductible for Montenegro - only 300 euros (400 euros for minibuses).

So, let's finally move on to the situation when the Client returns the car with new damage, without having insurance with a zero deductible, or an accident report indicating the culprit, i.e. when the Client is obliged to compensate for the damage caused from the deposit left.

This procedure is unpleasant, because no one likes unplanned expenses, so this article is posted on our website so that each Client has a clear idea of how the procedure for determining the cost of damage will take place in such a case and what the approximate costs may be for this or that damage.

Let us immediately note that any, even minor damage, is inexpensive here, since the cost of repair work in Montenegrin services is SEVERAL TIMES LOWER than Russian prices for the same services.

For example, the cost of painting one element in a Montenegrin service is from 70 euros. It goes without saying that the cost of repairing each damage is calculated individually, based on the need to replace parts, their painting, and the complexity of bodywork. 

Given the low deductible of 300 euros (400 euros for minibuses), therefore, in this article, we will primarily talk about minor damages, the cost of repairing which is less than 300 euros, and, accordingly, part of the deposit will be returned to the Client.

By the way, according to statistics, it is such minor damage to one or two elements (most often a scratch on the bumper or (and) wing) that make up the majority of all damage to rental cars. 

Please note that the cost of high-quality painting of a small (but deep) scratch of only a couple of centimeters will be the same as the cost of painting five scratches, thirty centimeters each, on one element, since for the service, in both cases, this is painting one element.

We do not make claims to our Clients for minor damage, such as a single paint chip, or a small polishing scratch, since this is a normal process of car operation.

However, noticeable long (from 20 cm) polishing scratches are paid for by the cost of polishing the whole car part. Such scratches appear quite often, because they are left by roadside bushes or thin tree branches, when in contact with the car.

Single chips (a couple of mm) or a small polishing scratch are NOT paid
