Residence permit in Montenegro (privremeni boravak) is a document that allows an immigrant to live, work, study, and engage in entrepreneurial activity in the country for 12 months. Boravak looks like a plastic card containing an identification number, information about the owner and the validity period. Residence permit gives the right to request permanent resident status after 5 years

How to obtain a residence permit in Montenegro

A citizen of Russia or another country can obtain a residence permit in Montenegro if the established requirements are met and a package of documents is submitted. The registration procedure is simple and with thorough preparation it will not be difficult to complete.

Requirements for the applicant

An application for a boravak can be approved if the applicant meets certain conditions:

there is living space and finances for living in the country;

there are no restrictions on entry and stay in Montenegro;

a medical insurance policy has been issued;

there are no criminal records lasting more than 6 months in Montenegro and the country of permanent residence;

the validity period of the foreign passport exceeds the period of the requested residence permit by 3 months;

the applicant does not pose a threat to the safety and health of the population;

there is confirmation of the reason for moving (an invitation from an employer, business documents, etc.).

A package of documents

A general list of documents that will be required in any case:

application;

a foreign passport and its copy;

confirmation of registration in the country ("white card");

a bank statement confirming the availability of at least 10 EUR for each day of stay in the country (3,650 EUR per year);

a lease or purchase and sale agreement for residential real estate located within the state;
a health insurance policy;

confirmation of the basis for registration of a boravac;

a receipt for payment of duties.

Bases for registration of a residence permit in Montenegro

The most common ways to obtain a residence permit in Montenegro are starting a business and buying real estate. The first method is in demand due to the fact that the minimum authorized capital of a company can be 1 EUR.

An entrepreneur is not obliged to hire people and contribute to the development of the country's economy, it is enough to pay taxes on time. In the case of purchasing real estate, the cost does not matter - you can purchase an object at any price and get a residence permit in Montenegro.

Relocation is also possible on the following grounds:

training;
employment;
reunification with close relatives or marriage registration.

Residence permit through opening a company

Business immigration to Montenegro involves registering a company and appointing yourself as its director. The most common forms of ownership in the country are D.O.O. (limited liability company) and preduzetnik (individual entrepreneur).

It is not necessary for a Montenegrin businessman to hire employees and conduct business, the main requirement is to submit reports and pay taxes on time. You can create a company or become an individual entrepreneur in Montenegro remotely through an intermediary company or by personally applying to the Central Register of the Commercial Court.

After registering the company, you need to open two bank accounts: personal and corporate.

For the first, you will only need a passport and a questionnaire, for the second, you will additionally need to provide statutory documents. You need to transfer 3,650 EUR to your personal account to receive an extract, after which you can request a boravak.

When applying for a residence permit in Montenegro through opening a company, a recognized educational diploma and the organization's statutory documents should be added to the general list of documents.

The entire procedure, including business registration and opening accounts, takes up to a month. After obtaining a residence permit, the entrepreneur must register with the Department of Labor. The residence permit is valid for a year and is subject to renewal.
