In case of minor damage - the locals will try to convince you to leave peacefully, with payment of minor damages. As soon as the support group of the second participant jumps out from under the ground, they will quickly draw a picture for you that: you are certainly guilty, and nothing can be done about it

Dear friends, since most of you are in Montenegro, we will refer to the law on the safety of the sobracha CG

But its content in this case coincides with international rules. So it applies everywhere.

If an accident on the road with your participation has occurred, - you should first of all pull yourself together and not get lost:

In case of minor damage - the locals will try to convince you to disperse peacefully, with the payment of minor damage. As if from under the ground a support group of the second participant will jump out, they will quickly draw you a picture that you are certainly guilty and nothing can be done about it ...

If you agree and do not want to waste time waiting for the police and talking to the insurance company for a scratch: well, - you can disperse, but in strict accordance with the rules of paragraph 165a of the aforementioned law.

Namely:
1. draw up a evropski izveštaj o saobraćajnoj nezgodi (European protocol). It is attached to your policy (green card).

2. Exchange data, copies of insurance policies, handshake with the second participant/second participant

3. If the second participant does not have a policy or other documents, - you should notify the authorities about this (this is what the rules tell us).

But we are still people. If everything is fine, you agreed, you paid a penny or you paid, - then the decision to report or not to report to the police about the lack of documents of the second participant remains at your discretion.

4. IMPORTANT! Do not be lazy to film the process on your phone or get a receipt from the other participant that he/she has no claims against you.

If you just get into the car and drive away, then you will violate paragraph 166, which requires you to remain at the scene of the accident until the inspectors arrive.

This paragraph regulates situations when the damage is significant or there are victims, or there is no mutual understanding between the participants in the accident.

You can leave the scene of the accident only (!) if you need to seek medical help, and then you are supposed to return to it at the first opportunity.

5. In addition, the rules impose the following on the participants of the accident:

- Turn on the hazard lights, put up a sign, leave and do not move the car, except in the case of medical necessity specified above.
- Call the traffic police by dialing 122.
- If there are victims, you should also call an ambulance, but the police will do this themselves, having heard from you about the circumstances of the accident.
- The rules also prescribe to provide assistance yourself (as far as possible). But this is natural, in my opinion!

6. IMPORTANT! You should not argue with the second participant, you need to nod, like, we'll figure it out, and while we wait for the police, here you go: my address, data, phone number and a copy of the insurance policy. We take the same from him.

7. Traces of the accident should be preserved in their place, if possible. Unless, of course, they interfere with traffic. That is, if your cars took up one lane, and the bumper - the second, then you should not be a donkey: offtotal/a as everything is lying and removed/removed from the way.

8. The inspector comes to the scene of the accident in all cases exceeding minor damage (up to 1000 euros), and also if one of the participants insists on his presence.

If you do not agree, - it will most likely be you, and it will cost you 50 euros. But this is better than if you leave without filling out the European protocol, and then the second participant, dragging along the whole family of witnesses, - declares that you left the scene of the accident, which automatically makes you obliged to compensate for the damage.
And since, again, you did not draw up the European protocol, no insurance will cover this damage.

50 euros paid for calling the police can be added to the damage if the other party is found guilty.

8. Working off your 50 euros to the fullest, and also if he had to come due to the significance of the damage, the inspector will have to draw up a diagram of the incident, a report and take photos.

You look at all this carefully (!), if you disagree with something, insist on your own. In case your arguments are not reflected in the report, when signing it, indicate your comments.

If possible, take photos of everything, everything, everything. Including how the police fill out the report. Everything, that means everything.

And if you are asked to blow into a tube, do it all together. Do not agree to get into your car while the policeman is taking readings from the device for the second party - in his car. This way they can falsify the results. And in my case, they seem to have done just that.

And also, just from myself:

1. If something like this happened, try to find someone who will take you home. Or at least stop at the nearest kafana and drink a glass of water or mint tea (just not alcohol). Do not drive the car further (it cost me a burst tire and a broken door).

2. At the scene of the accident, you need to collect all the parts that fell off your car, even if they are cracked or broken - this will make it easier for the guys at the car service to restore your car.

Good luck on the roads and take care of yourself!
