Useful information for those planning to visit northern Montenegro.
So where to go there and what to do there?
1. City of Žabljak
Local tourist center. There are no special attractions here, there are several pleasant restaurants with national cuisine, many hotels, apartments and separate houses for rent to travelers. In Žabljak and its surroundings, you can easily find accommodation for everyone's taste and budget.
2. Black Lake
At the foot of the mountain range, under the canopy of the relict coniferous forest, there is a large glacial lake. In summer, when the weather is hot, you can even swim in it. The water is crystal clear and will refresh you with a pleasant coolness. Near the lake, the majestic mountains Međed and Savin kuk rise straight out of the scrub. It is possible to climb one of these peaks, but it takes a whole day. I will write a separate post about hiking on Durmitor.
In the spring, the springs flow directly from the slope of Međeda, noisy waterfalls that flow into the lake. Closer to summer they disappear, the water level drops, and Crno Jezero is divided into two halves by a small isthmus.
There is a walking trail around the lake. To walk slowly through it, it will take you about an hour and a half to two hours. Entrance fee: 3 euros. In addition, if you come by car, you will have to pay another 2 euros for parking. Be sure to keep your ticket - it is valid for the entire national park.
Crno Jezero is a very popular place, it is always crowded, tourists are brought there by large buses. To avoid the crowds, take the road from Žabljak and turn right into the village of Ivan Do. There you can find a place to park your car and walk to the lake not along a noisy asphalt road, but along a forest path.......
